If you pour a hot cup of coffee and set it on the table, it only has the potential of growing cold. It cannot remain hot without some intervention. If you take an ice cube out of the freezer and place it on the counter, its only prospect is to melting into a liquid. It cannot remain frozen without some external attention. If you light a candle, it only has the possibility of burning out. It cannot remain burning without some added factor. If you spin a top on the floor, it has only the probability of slowing down and stopping. It cannot continue to spin without assistance. This is called involution.
