I recently read a story about a man who had a dream. He saw a large crowd of people gathered in front of a fence. And on the opposite side of the fence to the left stood a creature that looked like the devil, and on the right stood Jesus. He heard Satan call out for anyone who wanted what he had to offer, and a person from the crowd jumped over the fence and went to him. Then Jesus called out for anyone who wanted to come and follow Him. Sure enough, someone jumped over the fence and joined Him.
This went on until there was only one person left on the other side of the fence where the crowd had been standing. Both Satan and Jesus called out to that person. Finally, the person jumped up on the fence and then just sat down. After awhile, Satan turned and led his large group off in the direction of loud music and bright lights. Jesus, meanwhile, led his small group in the opposite direction toward what looked like a field filled with thorn bushes and barriers.
This left the last person sitting on the fence alone. Thinking they had been forgotten, the person was trying to decide what to do. Just then Satan came back and appeared to be looking for something he had left behind. The man called out, “Have you lost something?” Satan looked straight at him and replied, “Not really, I was looking for you. Come with me.” The man replied, “But I’m still sitting on the fence. I haven’t decided yet who to follow.” Satan said, “Oh yes you have. You see, I own the fence.” “Whoever is not with me is against me.” – Jesus: Matthew 12:30.
