William Blake, well-known English poet, painter, and visual artistry pioneer, penned this proverb: Shame is Pride’s cloak. But in my many years here on earth, I have often found the opposite to be true: Pride is Shame’s cloak.1

How often are people too proud to admit their wrongdoings, misdeeds, falsehoods, pretensions, and hypocrisies? They pass them off as bad luck, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, etc. So they wrap their cloak of pride around their shame. What they don’t realize is that their cloak of pride is transparent. – Dr. Robert R Seyda
