We just finished studying Matthew Chapter 6, where we learned what Jesus had to say about caring for others just God cares for us; about prayer, how God prefers prayers that are spontaneous, not long, repetitious prayers, or those recited to earn us points; but from the heart and to the point.
We also saw how fasting got started and what it meant to the one fasting, not necessarily something to impress God with, but to impress ourselves in showing ourselves that we are committed to the cause. And how important it is to lay up treasures in heaven, not here on earth, meaning: that the good things we do for others should not be to benefit our pride and reputation, but to do it to the glory and honor of God.
And finally, the unnecessary burden of worry, that benefits no one. How can we plan, believe, move forward, be involved or concentrate on what is needed now when our minds are constantly absorbed and occuppied with things that have not happened yet, and may never happen?
Tomorrow we move on the Chapter 7. where our Lord talks about the foolishness of watching what others are doing instead of looking for what we need until we find it so that we can find that strait and narrow gate that leads to where God wants us to be so that what we are building to His honor and glory will not be easily washed away by the winds and the waves because we built it on things that were unstable and untrustworthy.
Hope you stick with us, we want you to come along on this journey down an unfamiliar road.
