I once read this brain teaser that got me to thinking: “Before Mt. Everest was discovered, what was the highest mountain in the world?” My first thought was to look through the Almanac to see what was the second highest mountain and go with that. But what if that one hadn’t been discovered yet either? Then I guess I’d go to the third highest. You can imagine my surprise when the answer suddenly came to me. It’s like asking, was there a God before we found out about Him or did He only come into existence when we discovered there really was one. The same can be said for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and hope. So when someone tells you that God can heal, that Jesus can save you, and that the Holy Spirit can live in you to help motivate, guide, teach and guide you, just remember the answer to this brain teaser and it should give you enough reason to go on until all that God has for you becomes yours.
