Every automobile engine, whether it has 4, 6, or 8 pistons, must have its timing set exactly right in order for the motor to run smoothly.  That means, each piston must reach its maximum height and compression at point of ignition by the spark plug, to get the full power it needs to drive the car forward.  If the timing is off, then the engine will run rough and there will be less power to move ahead.  Spark plugs will fire when there is little fuel and compression in the chamber, or not fire when it needs to, thus wasting fuel and becoming ineffective in doing what it is designed to do.  Life is a lot like an engine, and our timing is critical in order for us to be effective in doing what God designed us to do.  So we need God to set our timing so that we can perform at our maximum efficiency.  No wonder the prophet Isaiah said, those who wait on the Lord will have renewed strength, their takeoff will be like that of an eagle (Isa. 40:31). – Dr. Robert R.
